Dear Members, I happend to be involved in a rice husk power generation plant.Knowing that rice husk contains silica,I am worried about health impact by silica-ash. If any member knows anything about this health implication,or has any reported case please respond.I am greatful for your partiticipation.

Looks like you are burning the rice husks you need for your Compost,,why not Digest them plus garbage and manures and crop residues in an Methane Generator,then use the Gas for whatever you need the power for,,and then you have an excellent fertilizer in the effluent which can be spread and will be useful right away,instead of waiting for compost.. Rice is very hard to compost because of the silica,a Digestor will break it down easy..

Five years on, the point is still valid, Diogenes. Biomass energy from wastes is still under utilized as a resource, but instead biofuels have taken it into the realm of competition with food crops. Biomass energy has come down to Food Security vs Energy Independence...

But, on the other hand - the wastes from food production can also be used, for example the recent reports of a power plant being constructed in the Netherlands to convert poultry litter into electricity.
