Even though the majoritiy of Americans support stronger environmental protections and enforcement, our political system allows special interest groups to exert constant anti-environmental influence on our government. This means "we the people" have to fight harder if we want our interests protected before those of powerful land raiders and polluters across this nation.
Rep. John T. Doolittle (R. - Calif.) is already preparing for an anti-environmental President come November. He has asked conservative allies to begin to think up anti-environmental "executive orders and rule changes" that a President could soley enact without congressional action. Doolittle has deceptively named his plan "Project Evergreen" to disguise the clearly anti-green motives of the project. Doolittle wants to "promote [his] own vision of proper stewardship of God's green earth" which includes "enabl[ing] the executive branch to work its will to counter that entire [environmental] movement and undercut their sources of power."
Please, know the candidates' record on environmental policy and VOTE GREEN this November. The League of Conservation Voters has "environmental scorecards" for each candidate.
