Recently on the media there was talk of banning wood heaters due to the smoke pollution they cause. Although this is a good idea - wood heaters are a drop in the ocean compared to the pollution to bush fire smoke. Asthma sufferers have a bad time during any dry spell in the country due to burning off and irresponsible lighting of fires. Burning off is necessary but needs to be strictly controlled and the time allowed very restricted to say 6 weeks during the cold months. Here is goes on for months and months. Apart from the danger to the public, firefighters, property, wildlife etc there is the prolonged danger to health. Do others have any ideas on how to reduce this pollution.
